In the UK
There are a number of wonderful places nearby, so if you are keen to extend your stay you may consider visiting some of these.
Brighton is on the South Coast of England, where you will find some lovely towns, villages and an occasional city to visit, but also the Jurrasic Coast Area which is a World Heritage Site for palaentological interest. So if you love fossils it is the best place in the UK to visit.

Jurassic Coast – World Heritage Site along the South coast.
If you keep going to the west from Brighton (perhaps before or after Bristolcon), you will find Dorset, Somerset, Devon and Cornwall. This is a very popular area for holiday trips, which means it is packed in the summer, but hopefully in the autumn it will be a little quieter if you want to spend some time visiting. Sites include Glastonbury Tor, Stonehenge and the Eden Project.
