Programme Outline

We are planning to have talks, workshops, artist sketchbook tours, Guest of Honour Interviews, informal meet ups, kaffeeklatsch style meet the authors/editor/artist, launches/parties, early morning walks as well as a Welcome reception, Mass Autographing, Artist Reception, Banquet, World Fantasy Awards, British Fantasy Awards, and British Fantasy Society AGM. We are also planning to have evening activities including karaoke, open mic, light hearted panels, late night horror readings, etc.

There will be different activities on each day of the event. The full schedule will be published on our website about a month before the event itself. Most attendees by a membership for the full 4 days to get the most out of the experience, but there will be day attendances available also.

The Dealers’ Room will offer new, second-hand and antiquarian books, magazines and comics, while the Art Show will have art and prints for sale as well as to view.

There will be a private bar for convention attendees, offering food and drink, as well as providing a comfortable area for meeting and socialising.

Day by Day

Wednesday – Online activities and some social activities. British Fantasy Society meet up in the Hotel bar will take place in the evening.

Thursday – Registration, the Dealers’ Room and Art Show will open. Panels and readings will start from mid/late afternoon. There will be an opening ceremony and a social event in the evening.

Friday – Registration, the Dealers’ Room and Art Show will be open. Panels and readings will take place during the day (from 10 a.m.). The Mass Autograph session will take place in the evening.

Saturday – Registration, the Dealers’ Room and Art Show will be open. Panels and readings will take place during the day from 10 a.m. There will be an Art Reception. The British Fantasy Awards take place in the evening.

Sunday – Registration, the Dealers’ Room and Art Show will be open. Panels and Readings will take place during the morning (from 10 a.m). The World Fantasy Banquet will take place in the early afternoon, followed by the World Fantasy Awards. The in-person event will finish by 6 p.m.

Monday – There may be online content and social activities.

A detailed programme will be released about a month before the event.

Welcome Reception

We have a “New to Fantasycon/WFC” session to allow new attendees to ask questions and meet some others who might also be feeling a bit lost also. We will then have the more formal Opening Ceremony, introducing our Guests. We are planning to serve a few refreshements and and encourage you to meet and socialise with other attendees.

Mass Autograph Session

We invite every author, editor or artist attending to sign at the Mass Autograph Session. Please do let us know via the member area of the website if you would like a seat. We hope that attendees will come and find out about authors as well as getting their books signed by the ones they alsready know they love. If you have limited luggage or don’t want to bring lots of books you could bring a autograph book to make a nice memento of the event. We are planning to serve a few refreshments.

Artist Reception

An opportunity to meet the artists and a final chance to bid on their amazing art in the art show. We are planning to serve some refreshements.

British Fantasy Awards

Come and find out who has won, congratulate or comiserate with the nominees and celebrate the amazing works that have been nominated. The awards ceremony will be followed by the Karaoke.

The Banquet and World Fantasy Awards

The World Fantasy Awards Banquet takes place on Sunday afternoon, and will be followed by the presentation of the World Fantasy Awards. While you don’t need to attend the Banquet, for the Awards Ceremony is open to all, it is a lovely way to celebrate the end of the convention. Ticket for the Banquet are available from our shop.

Dealer Room Opening Hours

We intend the dealer room to be open from lunch time or mid afternoon on the Thursday til 6pm, Friday 10am to 6pm (with optional opening during the Mass Autograph session in the evening), Saturday 10am to 6pm and Sunday 10am to 1pm.
