David runs the small press, Guardbridge Books, located in Scotland. He publishes a variety of science fiction and fantasy, as well as history/non-fiction. For a while in the early 2000s, he ran a small webzine, Parageography, focusing on stories with interesting worldbuilding. He has a PhD in History from the University of St Andrews – that's what brought this American to Scotland. Before that he had a long a twisted academic path, studying Astron
