Obituary – Nancy Kilpatrick

Nancy Kilpatrick – 1st January 1946 – 31st March 2025

Nancy, known as the Canadian Queen of Vampires, was a Guest of Honour at Fantasycon 2017, in Peterborough.

Award-winning author, Nancy Kilpatrick, had a wide catalogue of publications including 23 novels, over 250 short stories and novellas, 7 collections of her stories, as well as comics and graphic novels. She had also edited 15 anthologies.

Nancy was a 4-time Bram Stoker Award finalist, a 7-time Aurora Award finalist, a 2 time Paris Book Festival winner for anthologies, the ForeWord Reviewers Award silver winner for collections, the winner of the Murder, Mayhem & the Macabre award; The Standing Stone short fiction winner award; Interzon winner; and winner of the Arthur Ellis Award for best mystery story.

She was an author who has crossed the boundaries of genre many times. While best known for her horror, including gothic and erotic horror, she had also written fantasy, mystery, science fiction and non fiction.

Her novels included As One Dead, set in the roleplaying game world of Vampire: The Masquerade and The Thrones of Blood, a 5 book series of vampire novels.

She was a kind and gracious guest, who will be missed by all who knew her.
